Joseph P. Germain, Jr., CPA
Joe is our managing partner. He was born in Bridgeport,
graduated from Fairfield Prep in 1952 and Fairfield University in 1956. He
was commissioned at graduation and served a stint as an infantry officer
in the Marines before beginning his accounting career.
Joe is a Past President of the Connecticut Society of CPA’s (CSCPA), the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Benevolent
Fund, NESSCORC (a group comprising the New England CPA Societies), and the
Bridgeport Area CPA’s.
He founded the Nutmeg Group of CPA’s, a consortium of Connecticut CPA
firms sharing wisdom, expertise and education. Joe served as Connecticut’s
representative on Council, the AICPA’s governing body, for eight years. He
has been serving as a Special Master to the Connecticut Tax Court since
1993. In addition, Joe is a recipient of the coveted Meritorious Service
Award, CSCPA’s highest honor.
Joe’s expertise is small businesses and executive taxation.
In addition to his busy professional life, he is currently a Trustee
of Albertus Magnus College and serves as their corporate secretary.
Throughout his career, he has found time to serve on
numerous civic, social and church boards and committees.
His hobby is golf, and he can frequently be found pursuing the quest of a
better game at Brooklawn Country Club, where he is also a past president.
Joe and his wife, Lillian, have two grown children, Laurie and Gregory,
and three grandchildren. They have lived in Fairfield for 37 years.
